Military Tuition Assistance Information

Security University takes pride in providing "hands-on" tactical Security Skills Certifications and the CNSS 4011-4016A Approved (ACCET Accredited) IS Graduate Certificate programs for persons serving in the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. These military tuition assistance programs are offered to active members of the U.S. Military to provide better competition in the job market after their time serving has come to a close. Below describes the Tuition Assistance programs we offer @ Security University.

U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy Military Tuition Assistance Programs

Each of our programs can provide up to $11,000 / $4,500 annually for class tuition costs per fiscal year.

For Those with Spouses in the U.S. Military – MYCAA

For our students whom may not directly serve in the U.S. Military we provide the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts program (MyCAA).

This program is availble to any of our students who are military spouses.

Army Tuition Assistance Program

The Tuition Assistance (TA) program provides financial assistance for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier's professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning. The intent of this program is to provide training in high-demand career fields to help soldiers find employment after they transition out of the Army.

Who is Eligible?

  • Active Duty Soldiers
  • National guard & Reserve Soldiers on extended duty
  • Wounded Warriors serving on active duty
  • Officers

Tuition Assistance Procedures

  1. Soldiers must request TA through www.GoArmyEd.com prior to the course start date or before the school's late registration period.
  2. TA is requested on a course-by-course basis.
  3. GoArmyEd will notify the Soldier whether the TA is approved or not.
  4. All drops/withdrawals must take place through GoArmyEd. Soldiers who do not successfully complete a class will be required to repay the TA.
  5. If the Soldier wishes to take a class with a school that does not participate in the electronic GoArmyEd course schedule, a TA Request form must be completed in GoArmyEd. The TA request will be routed to an Army Education Counselor/Reserve ESS to be reviewed and approved. Soldiers should allow extra time for this. If TA is approved, the Soldier will be notified by email. Soldiers must print the approved TA Request Form from GoArmyEd, provide the form to the school and enroll directly with the school.
  6. Soldiers must submit a new, signed TA SOU each year (SFC and above may sign for themselves and the commander). No further TA will be authorized until the TA SOU is approved. GoArmyEd will send a notice to students 90 days before the due date.

Air Force Tuition Assistance Program

Tuition Assistance (TA) is the Air Force's educational financial assistance program. It provides active duty personnel funding for tuition costs for courses taken in an off-duty status at a college, in support of Airmen professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning. The intent of this program is to provide training in high-demand career fields to help Airmen find employment after they transition out of the Air Force.

Tuition Assistance Rates/Fees

All Air Force Tuition Assistance pays up-front the tuition and fees charged by educational institutions for course enrollments. Air Force TA pays 100% of tuition costs for courses applicable to the completion of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. For other education levels, there is a fiscal year credit limit of 16 Semester Hours, or 24 Quarter Hours per individual. (Waiver requests cannot exceed the FY $4500 DoD program limit.) Payment for tuition

  • Enlisted active duty personnel
  • Air Force Reservists on continuous active duty

Tuition Assistance Procedure

  1. Before you can access the online TA request process, you must create a user name and password on the AFVEC. This can be done through the Air Force Portal at https://www.my.af.mil/
  2. Select Reason for Request
  3. Select the School Name (Civilian Institution)
  4. Enter Term Dates
  5. Enter the Course Information
  6. Enter the Registration Fees
  7. Verify TA Information and Submit Request
  8. Click on Apply for TA. You will request Reserve TA (not Military) and your servicing education center will be ARPC Denver (AFRC).
  9. After your request is approved, you will receive notification of approved TA form. The approved TA form will have both the approval official's and your digitally signed signatures. You MUST send a copy of the approved TA form to your school

Navy Tuition Assistance Program

Tuition Assistance (TA) is the Navy's educational financial assistance program. It provides active duty personnel funding for tuition costs for courses taken in an off-duty status at a college, in support of sailors' professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning. The intent of this program is to provide training in high-demand career fields to help sailors find employment after they transition out of the Navy

Tuition Assistance Rates/Fees

All Navy Tuition Assistance pays up-front the tuition and fees charged by educational institutions for course enrollments. Navy TA pays 100% of tuition costs for courses applicable to the completion of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. For other education levels, there is a fiscal year credit limit of 16 Semester Hours, or 24 Quarter Hours per individual. (Waiver requests cannot exceed the FY $4500 DoD program limit.) Payment for tuition and fees will not exceed the caps of $250.00 per semester hour and $166.67 per quarter hour.

Who is Eligible?

  • Naval Officer
  • Enlisted active duty personnel
  • Naval Reservists on continuous active duty
  • Enlisted Naval Reservists ordered to active duty 120 days
  • Naval Reservist Officers ordered to active duty for 2 years or more.

Tuition Assistance Procedure

  1. Contact your Navy College Office to receive educational counseling in person, by phone or email. With your Navy College advisor, determine which courses will be requested for TA funding.
  2. Complete a TA Application form NETPDTC 1560/3 listing course(s) and fee(s).
  3. Carefully read the second page of the TA Application, the Tuition Assistance Application Agreement, and complete the requested information at the bottom of the page.
  4. Your TA Application MUST be returned to your Navy College Office for processing.
